GRAMATIK LIVE 1/16/14 - REVIEW

"January 16th marked one of the best performances I have ever seen as Gramatik made his way to The Huxton in Toronto after last month's show was delayed due to transportation issues. But it was well worth the wait as Gramatik (along with his side group ExMag) had the crowd in a fever of funk from start to finish. The show was a lush presentation of lights, smiles and the grooviest set that my ears have ever heard. Although the venue was small for the amount of people inside, and security was a bit rough at times, The Hoxton provided great sound for Gramatik's show especially because they had to blend the electrofunk sound and deep bass while still making the guitar sound funky and fresh. Even during the ExMag part of the show, you could hear the vocals crystal clear (which were also amazing by the way). The final thing that made the show so good was the crowd atmosphere. Everyone in the venue had a smile on their face and had their hands in the air, not too many people were rough and judging by the nonstop dancing it is safe to say that everyone had a great time. Shows like this don't come around too often and when a producer can combine a DJ set along with live instruments and vocals it just becomes more intimate with the crowd.  When it is done this well it is taken to a whole new level. This was easily one of the best things I have ever experienced live, thanks a bunch to all involved!" - Anthony Anacleto
